Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a coming and yet another highly anticipated, worth-waiting for Marvel project and technically a sequel of Doctor Strange. It is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures It is planned as the sequel to Doctor Strange (2016) and the 28th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The Multiverse of Madness director is Sam Raimi, written by Michael Waldron, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange along with Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg as well as Rachel McAdams. It is a film in which Strange along with his comrades traverses the multiverse to fight a frightful new foe. The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness release date is set on 6 May 2022.
Doctor Strange co-writer Scott Derrickson had plans for a sequel as of October of 2016. He signed a contract to be the director again in December of 2018, after which Cumberbatch announced his return. The film’s title was revealed in July of 2019 with the involvement of Olsen, and Jade Halley Bartlett was hired to write the script in came out in October. Derrickson was removed from the directorship in January of 2020, citing disagreements with his creative process and Waldron as well as Raimi joining in the following month and resuming. Filming started in November 2020 in London and was suspended in January 2021 because of COVID-19 pandemic. The production resumed in March 2021 and ended in the middle of April within Somerset. The shooting also took place in the other two locations, Surrey as well as Los Angeles.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness full movie is scheduled to release in the United States on May 6 2022 within phase Four of the MCU.
