Asur Voot : – This is a perfect crime thriller which will give you experience from different perspective rather than usual thrillers getting stacked in Indian webseries platforms.
Asur PLOT:
Set in Varanasi, Asur involves a forensic expert turned teacher, Nikhil Nair who returns to his roots in CBI along with his mentor, Dhananjay Rajpoot to solve a murder. While investigating they find themselves in a sadistic game with a brutal serial killer. They soon have to catch the murderer before more killing takes place.
Asur Voot Review:
Released on Voot and directed by Oni Sen, this crime thriller web series is loosely based on American television series- True Detective. Gaurav Shukla, Niren Bhatt, Abhijeet Khuman and Pranay Patwardhan have perfectly blended ancient Indian Mythology with the current world we are living. The story makes you believe in the justification of crimes and their relations with Indian mythology and that also in such a perfect way that audience cannot contradict it.
It is an excellent, well written script. When a movie/series has a strong script, it is already ahead of the others. One of the finest Indian web series to watch. A fresh story in it’s genre and it succeed in awing the audience. The murders shown in this series are so logical and scientific that it’s clear to understand that the writers did their homework for a long time, researches in depth before the series got its green light.
Such sincere performance by Arshad Warshi after Jolly LLB. It was his debut in webseries platform. Barun Sobti made his position strong with his appearance in web platform. A broken man who has to do certain things to save his family, his expressions equipped with a callous look all that needed to support the character. Anupriya Goenka’s strong supporting role worth appreciating.
Not much to say about the cinematography. I feel it could have been more appealing if the cinematography was better because that’s what add depth to the story. However, the script and acting were strong side of this series. Now to understand the story in depth you too need to do your homework (after completing it) of understanding the mythology concepts explained in this story; if you want to understand it completely, totally your call. You’ll get many videos on YouTube for that.
What we realized by the end of the show that there could be a season 2 of the series. Also we deserve it. It ended revealing a darker side to the “Asur” world that audience needs to explore. It released on Voot but I think had it released on platforms like Amazon Prime or Netflix, larger audience could have enjoyed this show because Voot is growing and this show is already so evolved.
