When he was accused of murder, the suspect claimed that the act was a result of demonic possession as his defense. This forced the Warrens into a supernatural inquiry unlike anything they’ve ever seen before.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It REVIEW

After The Curse of La Llorona, Michael Chaves brings another engaging horror film that drives into the world of Satanic crimes. When you see a Conjuring movie ‘not’ directed by James Wan can arise doubt about the film but this time Michael Chaves made his first work in Conjuring universe prominent. This is the 8th installment of the Conjuring universe & 3rd part to James Wan’s franchise. Written by James Wan & David Leslie Johnson this movie has the right amount of suspense, cinematic atmosphere & preaches more of the power of a married couple that is stronger than any evil powers. Very cleverly the director has started the movie sharing the main incident that followed “Based on a true story” thus making sure the audiences are spooked from the very beginning. I must say that it worked.

Ruairi O’Connor in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

The story is based on the most sensational case of their careers that made to lot of news when it happened & there’s surely many controversy around it. But the writers have constructed the movie in such a way that is very interesting & believable, thanks to a brilliant direction from Michael Chaves. The movie starts with a classic Conjuring exorcism scenes where David Glatzel (Julian Hilliard), an 8 years old, possessed is being exorcised by the Warrens (Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga) &  Father Gordon (Steve Coulter). As it goes out of hand, seeing David suffer horribly Arne challenges the spirit to leave David & enter him. Soon nightmare begins for the young man, Arne.

Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

Good acting from all the actors made the story effective. Many reviews are announcing it to be the best in the franchise.  Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are once again the main heroes whose teamwork wins extra hearts of the franchise fans. However, here Vera Farmiga gets to go the extra mile here with her gifts that gives us an emotional peek into Lorraine’s character & her devotion to her relation with husband, Ed.

Verdict

Don’t hold yourself because of the rating because it’s a well received film that you will enjoy. Absence of jump scares has given edge to this movie as it introduce you to the horror entity gradually, so you have time to adjust to it. This part certainly explored a side of Witchcraft that we have never seen before in the franchise. Overall, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is a good genre experience.
