The White Tiger Plot
The White Tiger plot revolves around Balram (Adarsh Gourav), a poor village boy who comes to Mumbai to be a driver of a rich family son, Ashok (Rajkumar Rao) and his wife, Pinky (Priyanka Chopra) who are a couple, returned from America. From childhood Balram has been fed to be slave by the society. So he happily do all his duties trying to satisfy his master until a mishappen takes place one night by his master. Balram realize that his masters will go to any level of corrupt to put the blame on him and save themselves. Tired of all these he rebels them to make his own life as an entrepreneur.
The White Tiger Review
The White Tiger is based on 2008 novel, of the same name written by Aravind Adiga. The novel is a New York Times Best Seller and won 40th Man Booker Prize. A very compelling and provocative film directed by the acclaimed , Ramin Bahrani. It was a darkly humorous portrayal of Balram dreaming to be an entrepreneur in the land of greed and class division.
The movie showed clearly how there are actually two world existing inside India which is an another world itself; the world of poor and corrupted rich.
The class division of the society and how it forces poor to stay poor so as to have people to provide with the inferior services of the society. This is shown in a satirical way. And it gradually gets a lot darker as the movie explores Balram’s psychology and suffering as corruption starts to eat him up. This movie shows the fact that when a particular class takes too much advantage of ‘so-called’ inferior one, things get ugly. At one time it even felt like Indian version of Parasite(2019) because why not, both of these stories deal with the same issue- Lower class ridiculed by upper clash.
It is a beautifully made movie where Adarsh Gourav shined with his A-class acting. A huge break from the usual teenage characters we are familiar to see him in. His act was well supported by Rajkumar Rao and Priyanka Chopra who is also one of the producers of this film. And another thing worth mentioning is it’s storytelling quality.
The movie is entirely narrated by the protagonist, Balram in English which makes the plots more vibrant as the story progress. Many films came that showed the class division & its corruption in India’s society but this film, I think, took it to a whole new Level. It is available on Netflix meaning it is definitely a movie that deserves global appreciation and it did.
